Flying High

hello ^_^

As I noticed in my last post, marking the revival of my blog, 6 years have gone by since my days of being an active blogger. And as I mentioned earlier, a lot has changed. In addition to no longer being a starry eyed College girl, I have not only graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Political Science, I have also graduated with a second Degree in Bachelor in Laws. And now as I write this, I bring with me also the experience of having completed just over 3 years in the profession.

But this post is not about my adventures and the occasional misadventures as a litigating lawyer. What prompted me to pen down my thoughts today was my chance witness of 3 air-plane landings. In connection to my current employment, every now then I have to head to the District Courts in Gurgaon. My usual course of action is to drive down from home to Office; park my car at Office; and then take a cab to Gurgaon. Though the entire ordeal of heading off to the District Court in Gurgaon may not be the most exciting thing to do, especially since I have grown accustomed to the posh and exclusive domain of the Courts in Delhi, more specifically those surrounding India Gate, nonetheless, I do have certain things which I look forward to whenever I am scheduled to head down south west. Perhaps it may just be my ridiculous or down right juvenile attempt to find the silver lining, or bright side of things, and make the most of every situation sort of attitude.

The first thing I enjoy, about going to Gurgaon, is the Bonus Sleep Time. Of course I have to wake up at the usual time of 7:30am and leave the house at sharp 9:00am, in order to make it to office at exactly 9:30am. That routine remains intact regardless of which way I have to head in the morning. It is after I have reached Office, that I promptly jump into the cab, tell the driver my destination, put on my cool blue shades, plug in my earphones for some soft music, and blissfully doze off into my Bonus Sleep Time.

Ah Happiness!!
(Note: I happened to go to Gurgaon today *thumbs up*)

The other thing I enjoy, about going to Gurgaon, is driving past the Airport. Ever since I was a kid, I have had a vivid fascination for flying. Although I never contemplated a career as a pilot, I have always been enthralled by the marvel of air-crafts and relished every moment in the air. Of course, this is not to say that every time there is turbulence, I don't get jittery. In fact, I constantly have to remind myself that a little turbulence is perfectly normal; it is just the aircraft flying from one jet-stream to another. (Perks of having a Physicist as a brother, who loves to explain EVERYTHING!)

I am digressing.

What I trying to point out is that I really enjoy watching planes land and take off, which is only enhanced when the Sun is out and the sky is clear and blue.

I remember as a kid, we used to often drive down towards the airport and park our car near the runway, and align our selves perfectly with the landing route of the planes. Wait for the exact moment when a plane would come swooping down, hardly metres above us, screeching out and declaring its might and forcing us to cover our ears. Of course, more often than not, I used to run away scared, while my brother used to stand undeterred, his eyes fixated on the heavy metal.

As I passed by the airport today and chanced upon three landings, I felt a sort of nostalgia. I experienced the same level of giddy excitement as that little girl who used to anxiously pierce her gaze through the empty sky in hopes of spotting that majestic marvel of man which lets us do the one thing we can not do on our own... fly.

I felt pure joy. Though it may not have been something which altered my life in any which way. Nonetheless, it was something that left me content in my being somehow.

And as always, thereafter, I was left with an anxious desire, till the next time I get to buckle my seat belt, bring my seat to an upright position, safely stow away my hand luggage and gaze out the oval window as the giant inanimate creature with metal wings slowly taxis towards the long concrete path heading towards the sky and transporting us to clouds from where we marvel at the life down below, amazed and excited... flying high.

Planes are awesome!!

Happy Flying everyone!!
